3.2 km head race for classic wooden rowing shells, on the historic Gorge waterway from the Tillicum Bridge to Victoria Inner Harbour

S.A.L.T.S. has kindly agreed to store boats and their trailers that need overnight storage in their secured parking lot along the Victoria waterway, 1000 metres by water from the Gorge Rowing and Paddling Club. Please arrange access through the locked gate with Elizabeth West. From S.A.L.T.S. to get to the Gorge Rowing and Paddling Centre by car, cross the Johnson Street Bridge, turn left on Government St. and continue for a few blocks to Bay St. Turn left at Bay St., right on Bridge Street and left on Garbally Rd., which very quickly becomes Jutland Rd. The Gorge Rowing and Paddling Club is at 2940 Jutland Rd.
Parking at the Gorge Rowing and Paddling Centre Regatta participants have free parking in the lot beside the Gorge Rowing and Paddling Centre (2940 Jutland Rd. off Gorge Rd. E). This parking lot can accommodate cars with boat racks, but it cannot accommodate large trailers. Boats on large trailers should be dropped off and the trailers can be returned to S.A.L.T.S. until they are needed for boat pick up.
Classic Rowing Display Tent: Remember to drop by the display tent to see a beautiful classic rowing shell and archival rowing photographs. The tent is at Ship Point pier, west of Milestone’s restaurant.Open Friday from 3 to 5:30, Saturday all day, and Sunday until 2 pm.
Friday, August 31 Welcoming Reception, Maritime Museum, 28 Bastion Square
6:00 – 8:00 Wine and appetizers, music Pick up your participant ribbon from Lisa or Elizabeth at the Classic Rowing Display Tent on Friday afternoon for complimentary entry to the reception.
Saturday, September 1 Race Day, Gorge Rowing and Paddling Centre
9:15 Pre-race meeting
9:25 Boat safety check begins
10:00 All boats should be on the water.
10:15 All boats should be through the Selkirk Trestle.
10:30 Selkirk Trestle closes
10:35 Boats should be at the holding area/start
10:45 Race begins (after the Coho leaves)
Finish: At Ship Point, across the Harbour from the Undersea Gardens
11:20 All boats return to the Gorge Rowing and Paddling Centre
12:00 Awards ceremony and lunch at the Gorge Rowing and Paddling Centre
Sunday, September 4
Victoria Classic Boat Festival Banquet, Union Club, 805 Gordon St at Humboldt. Doors 6:00 PM, dinner 7:00 PM. No host bar
Tickets, $50.00 CDN, on sale at the Classic Boat Festival Registration kiosk, located on the docks below the Lower Causeway. Tickets are not available at the door.
